ISLAM-CHRISTIAN DIALOGUE

247 our civilization has developed, com- pletely unknown to them, which have attracted them to us. Development will come through women: to make known to them, directly to them without in- termediaries and false modesty, their rights and duties through the essential steps such as schools, registry offices and public, health, etc.. 4. In addition to acceptance, we have the primordial task of preparing a policy for their integration into our society, for the sharing of duties and rights, for our va- lues of freedom of conscience and for their adherence to the ethical founda- tions of our republic. 5. The Muslim commentators interviewed referring to the Koran repeat the same concepts of peace, rights, freedom, equality, etc. And when they quote a verse of the Koran that confirms what they say by failing to mention it in full, the verse continues citing that the ri- ghts relate only to those who believe in Allah, this normally deceives the un- suspecting interlocutor. Allah does not have the same meaning for the Muslim and the Christian; God does not have the same meaning in the two religions. In my opinion, since there is not a single "true Islam", we are confronted with dif- ferent opinions that could have a grip on immigrants if the competent authority does not intervene in the enculturation and control of the territory. 6. The interviewer was right to verify whether the idyllic situation profused by Sharia law is practiced in the countries of origin, or if not, where? Or it exists only in their imagination; it would be called "wishful thinking". Finally, I add a crucial point: What will be the influence of European Muslims on Arab institutions and conse- quently on the sermons and teachings gi- ven in the countries of origin and rebound in our country? The problem to face is to separate religion from the laws of the State, to enforce our laws without if. It is counterproductive to see some public figures in Italy adapt to the customs of the Muslim immigrant "not to bump into"; it goes against the process of integration. I had to record the broadcasts, because they were broadcast in the second eve- ning and then watched them later. In addition to the interest that the program will have aroused, it would require an extended broadcasting in decent hours with adequate publicity, could become the subject of debate among young peo- ple, students, teachers, professionals and why not, the Muslims themselves. What do you think?
