SUBJECT: The Newly Persecuted

I hope you have had time to get acquainted with at least the index of the book I gave you at the end of your speech entitled Christians and Muslims Around 2000, published by Pauline.
Despite your many commitments I ask you to read page 27, written eight years ago. I believe that Muslim centers are bombs that one day or another will explode, at least if Italians in the meantime, especially the public authorities, do not rediscover their identity and apply the law without hesitation. In the long term these are dangerous centers, not just because they are Muslim, but because of the identity of the financier, their second undeclared purpose, and the type of people involved in their management. It took Jewish personalities to raise this subject!
Without presumption, I propose my opinion on the questions you asked the public that evening. The opinion of a Christian Arab who emigrated from Egypt to Italy.

R002 - CHRISTIANS UNDER PRESSURE

SUBJECT: Christians Under Pressure

Dear Dr. Amicone:

This is the draft of a text that could, once polished and modified, be the subject of a petition to the competent authority; is it feasible to change public and governing opinion? Thank you.

“I have some observations to make on the “defense of Christians” by the West: it is a misleading and counterproductive theme that makes it seem as if indigenous Christians are like foreign citizens in their own country; this is not right. Regarding Christians under attack in the Islamic world: the problem is political and should be addressed as such.

R003 - DISCRIMINATED CHRISTIANS AND FORCED EXODUS

2007

(Read the browseable version)

The silence of the people in the squares is deafening, that of the two Simons, and also that of the Church. Prudence has never been reciprocated by Arab governments or by their supporters, Italian or not, residing with us. Demonstrate against the discriminatory fascist laws in force in the Near East countries that violate the most basic human rights in the name of the Islamic religion. The protest must be made on the specific subject of human rights for the benefit of all citizens—Jewish, Christians, and Muslims—subjected to medieval laws in the 21st century. It is up to our governments and the EU to combine the disbursement of contributions and funding with the full application of equal human rights for all. To demand from existing dictatorships their control over appeals to hatred and holy war against their neighbours. To demand from intellectuals in the West and in Islamic countries, and from Islamic universities, a clear public and media statement not only for a generic brotherhood between peoples, but for equal rights between citizens of the same country.

R005 - BIBLIOTECA ALEXANDRINA REFUSES BOOK

2009

(Read the browseable version)

Dear dr.Serageldin:
During your speech at the university of Geneva you encouraged native Egyptians to contribute with their works to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The mission of the Bibliotheca, you stated, is dedicated to recapture the spirit of openness and scholarship bringing the Mediterranean Together for a free circulation of ideas and enrichment of the culture. Your impressive international professional history gave me the final impulse to do so.

Offer of books
From that perspective, as a contribution to create a cultural bridge over the two sides of the Mediterranean, I offered two of my books; Offer accepted on April 23, 2009, with many thanks.
Only one book however has been acknowledged “L’Islam: Storia, Fede, Cultura. Editrice la Scuola di Brescia,1996” a leading publishing house in Italy for scholars, I received a nice thank letter.
